GRAND TRUNK RAILROAD BOARD OF DIRECTORS #9764 DOUBLE DOOR BOX CAR

In 1990, Richard Kughn (then owner of Lionel Trains, Inc.) had Lionel make approximately 50 double door box-cars as gifts for the Grand Trunk Railroad Board Of Directors. The new production run of the car was similar to the #9764 Double Door Box Car from 1976 except that for the new production run, the “Built Date” was changed to show that the car was built in September of 1990 (9-90).

The cars came in the then current Black & White boxes, without labels on either end. These cars were given to the Grand Trunk Board Of Directors members and very few have made it into general circulation.

Truly a RARE find.
